The Librarian of Congress is a position appointed by the U.S. Congress and they run the Library of Congress. It’s a a political appointment and for once the lady holding the position, Dr. Carla Hayden, actually has a PhD in Library Sciences. So what’s up? Well, the congressional librarian also hires the head of the copyright office.
Currently A.I. companies around the world are looking for massive amounts of data to feed into their large language learning models. Copyrighted material costs money to buy for such a use. Artists are notoriously worried about losing control of their work permanently once it goes in. That is not irrational. Tests in the past have shown that when you ask the A.I. to write, say, a poem and describe an existing poem that has been entered into its program, it simply retrieves the original poem or writes one so completely derivative it might as well be the same one. Did I mention that Trump’s good friend Elon Musk owns an A. I. company? The same Elon Musk who has advocated for dumping all intellectual property laws for this reason?

So recently I saw a new Thomas Sowell video cropped up on Youtube entitled: “Sowell EXPOSES Why American Education Is a Global MOCKERY”. Sowell is an interesting guy. Sometimes when I watch a video of his I think yeah, right problem, weird conclusion. It’s amazing to me that there is a group of Americans who like the idea of making people who are different from them suffer. There are people who enjoy this. “Yeah, he’s gettin’ it done!”
